For those of you that I haven’t met yet, my name is Berg. I have started Chronically Wasted to promote the awaking of continuous thought about the disease that is facing us. We are seeing deer struggling and dying, we have seen butchers charging extra for racks, we have seen baiting laws changed and baiting prevented. I would like to get us back to good.
From Wikipedia - Chronic wasting disease (CWD), sometimes called zombie deer disease, is a transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) affecting deer. TSEs are a family of diseases thought to be caused by misfolded proteins called prions and include similar diseases such as BSE (mad cow disease) in cattle, Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD) in humans, and scrapie in sheep.[2] Natural infection causing CWD affects members of the deer family. In the United States, CWD affects mule deer, white-tailed deer, red deer, sika deer, elk, bison, squirrels, antelope, caribou, and moose.[3] The transmission of CWD to other species such as squirrel monkeys and humanized mice has been observed in experimental settings.
This was discovered in 1967 and no one has moved forward to help the issue. As a hunter in Wisconsin, I take immediate offense to this lack of non-support. This could have been handled, this could have been taken care of.
So now we are left with new laws and regulations. We can’t bait. I can no longer put out a salt lick, which my grandpa has always done. I have a mineral block sitting on my cabin porch that I can’t put out. And somehow this is supposed to help. There is no sign, or proof, that It will.
It seems like states have forgotten about this disease and have chosen to take a back-seat approach, adding new laws to not make deer congregate? They are deer, they will get together.
My approach further is to make enough money to cure the disease, straight forward. The only way we can do that is with money, unfortunately. We have to excite and pay these scientists to make a cure.
I’m going to make some cool Chronically Wasted merch and 30% of proceeds will go to these doctors. Let’s fight this thing together and actually care about it. Let's make America bait again!
